IITs’ Panels to rething on admission procedures

Mumbai: The seven prominent IITs are not in much favor of T.Ramaswamy report and hence set up their committee to review the admission for IITs undergraduate program leading to award of B.Tech, Integrated MSc, and Integrated M.Tech Etc. These programs are offered on the basis of AIR in JEE (Joint Entrance Examination).

The IIT Bombay committee is headed by dean of academic programmes Shiv Prasad to discuss different models for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The committee will give its report to put in senate for approval by the month end.

The IIT Guwahati will come out with its finding regarding new shape of JEE by mid – may most probably. The faculty members of different IITs are not agree upon the manner in which class 12th exams of different boards would be considered for admission. The faculty members strongly feel that marks of class 12th students of different boards are not the matter of only statistical consideration. The IITs faculty members strongly feel that class 12th board exams across the country are not free from malpractices; also the exam timings for different boards vary largely. Whether Class 12th Board marks would be added to main JEE score for preparation of AIR or only for screening shall be matter of consideration against senate once all these IITs comes with their findings. Also the importance of Class 12th Exam marks can not be underrated.
